Student Cheating in Exam
Nowadays, the problem of cheating in exam, or academic dishonesty as some colleges and high schools refer to it, is not a new problem in Vietnam and the other countries. While the demand for educated labour is getting higher and higher, there are fewer workers who can meet these needs. This problem may origin from the students' ability to cheat during exams. A question was asked: What cause some students to cheat on exams? In my opinion, there are three main reasons for cheating.
First of all, the main reason which leads students to cheat on the tests is that they want to have good grades. Most of students are under pressure from their family, their friends and their teachers... They are afraid that, if they gets bad marks, their parents will complain them, their friends will look down on and laugh at them. They imagine a dark future, with no good jobs, no good life. On the other hand, if they see their classmates get high mark, they want that fame, too. So they cheat as well as they hope. As the result/ therefore these pressures unintentionally make students value their good marks much more than their own knowledge
Having no ability for doing the exams is the second reason that cause some students cheating. From one side, students don't have their own self-confidences, some cannot do the exams because they are too difficult for them, and some students believe that they are not smart enough to pass the exams. Instead of studying hard, paying attention to classes, reviewing lessons, and doing exercises, they try to cheat in exams. On the other side, many students don't have enough time for reviewing, perhaps they get ill, they must take care of their grandparents and several different reasons. That can be sympathize, but I think that students should dispose their time in a rational way.
The final reason why some students cheat on their exam is because they get lack of self-respect. Students with high self-respect will never cheat. They feel really embarrassed by

According to the essay “Too Much Pressure” by Colleen Wenke, the reason that students cheat on their tests is because they are under too much pressure to get good grades, which is accurately portrayed since cheating is usually seen as one of the only ways to pass tests and that’s what students are being stressed to do. Based on her essay, teachers should be teaching students right from wrong as opposed to pressuring to the extent of making them cheat. This is important to see because it is a way to solve a worldwide problem that can possibly, greatly affect the future. Wenke structures her essay in a way which we are in the perspective of a student, then documenting the process she went through, explaining more as she continues. Cheating used to be considered an unmentionable sin. However, in this day and age, it has become more common and somewhat of a daily occurrence. Cheating is more widespread today than in the past. According to the article titled Education: The New Morality, cheating has not been an issue of values, but simply one of practicality. This shows that many view cheating as a mere occurrence and something that can often be skipped over. The reason cheating has become such a pervasive movement is because many students tend to rationalize their cheating behavior. A common rationalization that many students use is, " That 's the only way I 'll get anywhere in life." Many students also tend to incorporate reasons, such as parental pressures, the aim to be the best, and the lack of time, with their dishonest behavior.…

“Cheating has become so common, experts say, That it often goes unreported and unpunished,” said by Zernike in the Article,”With Students Cheating on the Rise, More Colleges are Turning to Honor Codes.” Without a doubt cheating has become more prevalent is both colleges and high schools. However, some people may question if certain types of cheating are okay and not dishonest and others dishonest. For example, some people may think copying a homework assignment is not a big deal and dishonest while other people think that cheating on exams is dishonest. In addition, some people may resort to cheating when they are not too aware of the material they are trying to learn when it comes to being tested and others do it for the good grade, not because they don’t know it. Also, many studies and surveys have been conducted at various school and I have noticed from the free responses that people are only attending school for the good grade and not to learn. In our societies today we always face the stress of being better. I believe academic cheating is a response to that stress. Ideally, the study environment should be designed according to the student’s individual capabilities and strengths. However, as Marilyn French (1985:387) once put it into words “Only extraordinary education is concerned with learning; most is concerned with achieving: and for young minds, these two are very nearly opposite.”.…

Most kids grow up with dreams of being a very successful adult, but one thing is known; in order to become successful you’re expected to do well in school. According to Lang “Most of us are willing to engage in acts of dishonesty under the right circumstances.” (par. 7) Nowadays especially, students want to cheat and plagiarize majority of their work. There could be many reasons for why students may cheats, whether it’s because they are playing a sport, they may be consumed with other classes, or it could simply be the lack of motivation that the students have to do their work. In college, most students just want an “A” in the class so they can get the credit and move on with their life. With that being said, they will cheat and plagiarize for almost every assignment because they are lazy and want the easy way out. Plagiarism is a huge deal because you are taking someone else’s work and claiming it as your own. Cheating isn’t good either because that is like taking someone else’s intelligence because you are too lazy to study and do your work on your own.…
