Advertising is the main form of communication for Macy’s. It may come from radio, newspaper and magazine ads to commercials and even the Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is there way of not only promoting their products but also giving something back in return to the people in the many communities that they serve.
I think that because Macy’s caters to many different people of races, income brackets and even social standings the way in which they communicate is above and beyond excellence. Because of this diverse culture you have to be able to interact with everyone and have great people skills to get your ideas and products out in the public’s eye.
Personally, I feel that even though Macy’s tries to uphold certain values such as providing products and services that meet or exceed the customer’s expectations; that they will treat others as they want to be treated; and also that they will respect the rights and property of others. (Macy’s Policies and Positions) I don’t think Macy’s values align with their employee’s values. At one time employees may have had these expectations, but over the years it’s changed. Employees are more worried about sales and quota’s then providing great customer service. Honesty is not a good trait either because many work there for their own profit and gain. Why do I say this? I work in retail and I have worked with people that have come from Macy’s.
