The date of the observation: 4/18/16
Part One:
Date Time Location
4/18/2016 2:00pm-3:00pm I am at a Care center observing Oliver who is not related to me. The Care center has caregivers watching and feeding infants. Infants are playing and some are in tune with what’s going on around them while others are not.
1. Using the information discussed in the text as well as the provided supplemental information posted to blackboard answer the questions below for two observed reflexes or voluntary movements. You can work with the infant to produce the reflex if needed.

If he saw two caregivers speaking, he knew where they were at as he turned toward them. He seems to know when the care giver is trying to calm him down as he listens to her tone of voice. He used his site to confirm the cause of the noise as he would turn his head to see were the noise was coming from. He used his site to see whatever the care giver would point at or was focused on.
3. Is the ability appropriate for the infant’s age?
Hearing is developed before birth and site is 20/20 for the typical baby at 8 months (Martorell 2013).
Part Four:
3. Has the infant developed object concept? Describe the observation you made which provided this information. What is typical for a child this …show more content…
Is the child developing typically?
Oliver is developing normally other than the fact that he has no stranger anxiety which at his age should be increasing from 8 months and on (Martorell 2013). He has separation anxiety which is common in infants from the age of 8 months and on; he wants to be carried and not left alone (Martorell 2013).
7. Using the description discussed in the text as a guide identify the baby's temperament type.
Oliver fits the temperament pattern of “easy” which states that, “They were generally happy, rhythmic in biological functioning, and accepting of new experiences” (Martorell 2013).
8. Provide and discuss specific examples from the child’s behavior.
When Oliver had a nap time, he took nap time. When Oliver was sat down to eat, he ate with no problems. When a stranger came in the room he did not freak out but instead just gazed at me for a few seconds and went on about his business; this suggest he is open to new experiences. During most of the observation period Oliver was calm and not shy. These examples suggest Oliver fits the “easy” temperament pattern.
