Weis Markets - 801 Loyalsock Ave
When we went to Weis, we tried to keep an eye on how people were shopping along with how the store made it easier for people to shop. We tried watching different types of people, to get many points of views. We made sure we followed around a single person, a group of people, and a family. We did see some differences in how they shopped, but we do not think it was because how the store was laid out. A person …show more content…
One family had a kid in the cart that was maybe 2 years old. One could tell that the family knew what they wanted but they did not have a physical list. Instead, they likely had a mental list from what they usually purchase. They took their time to see what items were on sale, because if they liked that product as much as the competitor, they would buy it because it would save them money. The family went into the "dead zone," assumably because they had a pet. We noticed that the pet aisle is usually pretty dead, even though many people tend to have pets. From our observations, Weis does not seem like a common place to buy pet food.
Weis Markets had many strengths, but there were also things they need to work on. They had plenty of sales which many people were interested in. They had these sales in good locations which people could see and find, regardless of their demographics. The few concerns we had were that although the aisles were very wide, they were cluttered with smaller sales. The sales were also scattered throughout the store, which could sometimes distract people from what they came into the store for in the first
