Summary Of 10 % Happier By Dan Harris
Practicing meditation and mindfulness will make you 10 percent happier. In the book 10 % happier, Dan Harris offers us an interesting story from his own experience about how mindfulness change his outlook of life and how leaving the default mode running rapid in our life will lead us astray. Harris is a high achiever and intelligent person. He starts off by telling the readers about his work experience externally (what events are taking place) and internally (how he feels and how is body and mind react to the situations). Harris is a correspondent for ABC News and works as an anchor for Nightline. He accepted low paying job because he wanted to pursue his passion for a higher purposes, not simply for the sake of living.

The further I read, the more I find this story related to my personal life and also could be an explanation of how we experience different stressful events in our life such dating new people, presentations and others. In the beginning of chapter one, Harris talks about what is going on his brain, “Everyone seeing you dude” when he started to lose his ability to at the ABC studio. Then, I came across someone talking about meditation and I knew that this is something that one must to try if they are looking for an actual transformation. I then learned how to meditate and I meditated everyday. In this period of my life, I learned that one need to understand that today's society promotes a pill popping nation for the benefit of the pharmaceutical industry. Although our problems do exist, pills are not the way to go. As harris says we need to understand that in order to get better we need to be aware that change happens gradually.     In Stumbling on Happiness, Daniel Gilbet explores the concept of happiness through a scientific and psychological standpoint, and shows us how our perceptions of happiness is distorted. Gilbert begins his argument by making the claim that "the human being is the only animal that thinks about the future."
