In the article “Why Chinese Mothers are Superior” written by Amy Chua, a professor at Yale Law School and author of other known articles, she informs the reader how Chinese mothers educate and raise their successful children stereotypically. In response to Amy Chua’s article, Christine Carter wrote “Chinese Mother Controversy: Why Amy Chua is wrong about parenting.” With these two articles it compares how Chinese mother and Western American parents both differently teach nd raise thei children differently while also having things in common.
Chinese mother do imaginale things to educate their children westen parents wouldn't do. For example, when their child fails a test they tell their children how a discharge they are to the family or call them names like garbage. Which one would think this would effect their self-esteem but in reality the children know that their parents think highly of their them. This does make them feel deeply ashamed but it encourage them to work for a better outcome in the next test. On the other hand, Western parents believe this is a disrespectful and harmful way to treat your child.
