Racism has always been in the land of the United States. Just by reading that line, one should automatically think the way Coates described in the next sentence: “this should disgrace the country” (Coates, 27). However, as Suad Joseph and Benjamin D'Harlingue mention in their article, Media Representations and the Criminalization of Arab Americans and Muslim American, the United State government and media associates do not feel disgraced, but publicly criticize or emphasize that non-whites, especially Arabs and Muslim Americans, are less civilized and means to commit a crime in thus should be imprisoned. However, if a white person, who pursue christian belief, commits a crime, white does not get criticized or get emphasized in the news (“Women’s lives..”, 447). Where the media should be protected or share non-bias news shows the racial discrimination in a way of depicting how non-whites are criminal and thus belongs to the jail.
