This case examines the Entering stage of organizational Development. Alegent Health is a five-hospital system which was formed by the merger of two religious sponsored health care systems. For the past two years two well know OD consultants have been working with Alegent Health to design and develop a large group intervention know as Decision Accelerator(DA) to aid in creation of strategies. An interaction with the consultants and researchers from Centre of Effectiveness Organization (COEO) led to an introductory letter to CIO of Alegent Health requesting that he has audience with the researchers who would like to explore the option of conduction a research on the change effort of Alegent Health. The researchers proceeded to gather valuable data on Alegent Health from the OD consultants as well as execute independent research. The first contact with CIO involved gathering background on (COEO), reason for doing the case and the possible value to Alegent Health. The researchers were asked to present a proposal to be shared with CFO and CEO of Alegent Health. After reviewing the summary document inclusive of project purpose, cost estimate, schedule and a series of discussions among, CIO, researchers and consultants a verbal agreement was established to commence the project.

All of which was evident in the case. There is limited advice available on how to choose a competent OD specialist so to limit the uncertainty
