This document stood out to me as well because once again is a female's opinions and thought and this one particularly is about equality on the sexes and till somewhat recently that was never in the equation. Judith Sargent Murray stands up for women's rights and I find that fascinating reading about how women are equal and how strong she sounds standing up for what is right. “Another instance of our creative powers, is our talent for slander; how ingenious are we at inventive scandal? what a formidable story can we moment fabricate from the force if prolifick imagination? These are letters from an American farmer in 1782 and his ideas on what is an American? Before men were Americans within this no continent they were all originally europeans for the most part that came over here. So how did they distinguish themselves from the rest of the world as they are now living in a new and ever growing country? Well that is explain and summed up within this document. “What then is the American, this new man?
