I can mention that my brother and I miss him very much because we can hardly see him, he works extended hours and when he gets home when we are already asleep. When we have had the opportunity to talk to him about how we both feel with this crazy situation; he explained, “that he wished he could spend longer time with us, but now that we are here in America we need to contribute as good citizens and the way we can do it by working and studying hard”, he says that these two elements provide respect and values in human beings, when my father mentioned about studying hard he replied that in his country the education is not free and not everyone has the chance to attend to school like here in America which is a blessing for everyone settled in this country, once my father told me that, I reflected about what the story portrayed when one of the daughters said, “We are not going to that school any more Mami!” the mother replied “You have to.” “In this country it is against the law not to go to school. You want us to get thrown out!?” (Lines 46-49) Reading this story made me realize how right my dad is making me reflect on how important is to be American.
