Nicholas Donabet Kristof is the author of “For Environment Balance, Rifle up a Rifle”. He is well-known as an American author, a journalist, and liberal columnist, and a winner of two Pulitzer Prize. “For Environment Balance, Rifle up a Rifle” appeared in The New York Times that attempted to convince the American people that deer is a dangerous mammal animal by killing more people each year than any other American mammal. It is mentioned in this quotation “A study for the insurance industry estimated that deer kill about 150 people a year in car crashes nationwide” (Kristof 188). He argues that deer increasingly destroys ecosystems and dangers humans, so the suggestion he makes to his readers is that humans should hunt and kill deer to protect their lives. He seems to support hunting more than other related issues. “These days, among the university-educated crowd in the cities, hunting is viewed as barbaric” (Kristof 189). They also believe that there are many ways to increase the deer population as “the upshot is that towns in New York and New Jersey are talking about using birth control to keep deer population down” (Kristof 189). However, I do not agree with that. Kristof states “A study for the insurance industry estimated that deer kill about 150 people a year in a car crashed nationwide and cause $1 billion in damage.” (188). It is necessary to shoot deer to reduce their populations which are exploding quickly, avoid killing more people on roads, and protect the ecosystem in many parts of the country. That’s why author says “For environmental balance, pick up a
