Blue made sure to see that the students were receiving positive feedback. When each of the students entered the room, they retrieved their binders and all sat down quietly. Each of the students were very respectful to each other in that whenever someone raised their hand to speak, they were the only ones who spoke. There was no character development program or a posted set of rules displayed in her classroom. In her classroom she did the majority of the talking while the students listened and answered her questions. In the high school classroom, there was quite a bit of talking and disruption among the students in the beginning. There were many students who were up and walking around while he was discussing the homework. There was no character development in the classroom. Mr. G didn’t seem tell really be listening to his students, one student had to repeat his question three times. Each teacher provided a way to show respect and understanding to their students, and then the other showed a class room that didn’t have much respect for each…
At this point Ms. ‘G’ begins to understand what she’s up against. Gradually earning their trustthe class-room becomes more manageable, becoming a haven that draws them together as a family. More importantly the students were more receptive to learn, as she sought to transform her teaching style to one that they can better relate to – she related to their need, where…
She states that "I treat everyone the same. But treating people the same is not equal treatment if they are not the same", but she didn’t display that throughout her class experiment(Tannen 349). For example, She broke the classroom into small groups to analyze the reading. The way she divides the class into groups is by “ the degree program they were in, gender, and conversational style (Tannen). That’s not treating everyone the same because she’s making exceptions for students. In that case, yes, she might be helping students get into their comfort zone to talk and learn, but might be hurting other students education. It’s obvious that people shouldn’t have equal treatment if they are not the same ,but people should have the same opportunity. For example, a teacher can’t treat a disable student the same as to an average student, but the teacher can support them with more help to have the same opportunities in class. For another example, a Japanese woman was the biggest talker in the class. Then she was to put into a small group where she didn’t do that well. She was “ overwhelmed by how talkative the female students were in the female-only group”(Tannen 348). Many students have different needs to participate, but a teacher can't satisfy everyone's needs. Treating everyone the same might be easier from a teacher perspective, but student with major needs should get it. That's why there Disabled Students Programs and Services in…
The teacher must stay consistent with the rules and follow up on all problems that occur in the classroom. The mentor teacher displayed this in the classroom. When I become a teacher I will follow this extensively to help provide a classroom environment for all.…
Most parents in working class schools don’t have the best jobs, they don’t have the best income, and they don’t have the best school systems to send their children to. Anyon found that kids in the working class schools, some programs were different than others. One school would go into depth about a certain topic, and another would barely touch on the topic and the teacher would make no effort to try and help the students. The teachers wouldn’t let the children out when the bell rang, keeping them after class to continue the work so the teachers could socialize. In working class schools, Anyon says that the teachers care more about themselves than their students.…
I observed Mrs. Collier’s first grade class at J.B. Hunt elementary on Thursday September 13, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated nicely. She had bright posters hanging on the wall as well as many colorful boxes, curtains, and chairs around the room. The desks were set up in one giant “U” with Mrs. Collier sitting in the middle. It was a great set up for the kids because they could easily see her and she could easily see them. The dynamics in the classroom seemed great because she connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. The students behavior seemed very respectful towards her and they listened when she asked them to do something. Mrs. Collier’s equity between her and her students was…
As teachers perform in classrooms, their collaboration with families, educators, and the community is vital to maintain stability with unity. Supporting unique lifestyles through open communication with families and children serve a definitive solution to nonjudgmental predicaments. All families and children are equally care for regardless of their circumstances. Opening children up to various lifestyles such as different lives of community helpers such as police men, fire fighters, doctors of multi-culture and mult-gender introduces children to equality. With the use of field trips to community helpers or dedicating a morning to special community speakers helps the children appreciate others and their hard work to keep us safe. A well-balanced classroom also benefits a child’s…
Prior to actually stepping foot into the classroom, I was not prepared to deal with the kinds of real problems that many of my students were facing. Problems such as abuse, neglect, hunger, out-all-night mothers, and jailed fathers were and still are common for many of them. When I found that many of these children performed below expectations in their academic classes, I eagerly began to try to find ways to assist. As a music educator, I began teaching and composing songs and chants to help motivate students to do their best and make big dreams, regardless of social issues that affect them. I began to collaborate with their home room teachers to incorporate the areas that needed reinforcement into my…
Everyone has their own perspective of what best way and how to learning children. The perspective of the student Jeff Bliss was tired and angry about the teacher going off on her student so he became the voice of his classmates. His stand up and speak out about the teacher Julie Phung lack of teaching her student by hand out packet and not give face to face communication about the work. The perspective of teacher Julie Phung was to tell Jeff Bliss to left her class because his was disruptive but she did not care. She mumbling, you are wasting my time!…
In the speech this teacher gives to her class' parents, sensitivity is demonstrated in a few different ways. She included several handouts of the classroom rules, and things to be expected of the students; even including information from the state education office and the national standards for Social Studies. The teacher provided email access to her, as well as instructions to get to the school's website and access how to email the teacher. The teacher took into consideration that many parents work during school hours, so she has one day a week set aside to to answer any question sand concerns until 8pm, and a calendar of the days in which she will be available. However, there are still many things this teacher overlooked.…
Teaching is not just for preparing lessons, presenting them, and grading papers. Teachers must also be aware if a student is having difficulties outside the classroom. They must do more than go through the motions of teaching and truly teach. Each student must be involved in the classroom and students having trouble outside of school should be given extra time for assignments during school hours. Students should not be just passed along and given the grade but should be helped where needed. When a student asks for help in class the teacher generally helps that student. This is no different for a student having trouble at home. They should be given help as well. The student with trouble at home should be given extra attention and time in class if needed.…
Sometimes it is easy to forget the game played on frozen ponds and backyard rinks, and get lost in the overwhelming professional sport known as hockey. However, we strive to remember that hockey became Canada's game because it made our never-ending winter months more bearable . The game gradually became a sport, then an entertainment industry. It seems like the lockout was one of the biggest news stories of the year. Part of the amazing nature of the game is that it's origins are fairly vague. However, we always remember that hockey is our game. It may not be our official sport, like lacrosse is, but hockey is what Canada seems to be most well-known for, and it continues to have immense influence on our free society, with its unique style and attraction. We invented it, we had the best players, and have so many cultural ties between the game and the people. Hockey has had and still has an incredible influence on Canadian culture.…
Some children had been doing very well, and so the teacher had many positive points to explain to happy parents, but, some children had not managed to achieve the targets set, or had a lower than acceptable rate of attendance. This required very effective communication as the parents had to know that there were issues that needed addressing, how the issues needed to be addressed and that if there were any relevant underlying problems or concerns that they knew about, the parents could, with confidence, tell the teacher, so that the concerns could be taken into account and helpful advice or referrals to other professional bodies could be arranged if necessary.…
He says that parents need to except that fairness doesn’t mean that everyone gets the same. Parents along with teachers need to realize that they can treat each child differently. Fairness is what the student needs not what everyone needs. Parents on today’s society always feel that if one child gets more than the other that they aren’t being fair. Parents struggle with fairness just as much as teachers do it might be in different ways but they still struggle. Children always look at why did one child get something but the other one did not, as parents they need to help their children understand that one child might need something where the other one did…
