Summary Of Steel Magnolias
Steel Magnolias is set in the 1980’s in the fictional town of Chinquapin. It is in the Louisiana Parish. The play is set in Truvy Jones’ beauty salon. The first scene is set on a Saturday. Truvy has just hired a new assistant, Annelle, who is new in town. All the ladies are coming to the salon as it is Shelby’s wedding day. As they are getting ready, Shelby collapses in her chair. She has type 1 diabetes. The group manage to regain Shelby’s consciousness.
Shelby marries Jackson Latcherie but is frustrated when the adoption agency will not let them adopt. Shelby was told by doctors that she could not have children due to her health condition, but she ignores their warnings and becomes pregnant.
At the beginning of Act Two, Shelby is back in
