The book showed that maids were not only suffering from racism, they were also victims of violence. Then, Minny goes upstairs to see Miss Celia, she knocks the bathroom's door many times, and Miss Celia tells her to leave. Minny felt that there is something wrong so, she pushed the door hard and break it. Then, she finds out that Miss Celia miscarried her baby, Minny helps her, and takes her to bed to rest, Miss Celia tells Minny that Johnny wants to have babies and he does not know that she lost two babies before that baby.
