Bullying can never be completely ended but these tips will most definitely help decrease it.
If an invidiual does not respond to the cyber bully there is nothing that can happen. If they do not listen it’s like they are not real at all. It completely removes all power that the cyber bully has. If someone saves the messages or however the American teenager is being bullied they can show it to an adult or authority figure and they can help resolve it. For example, in Tyler Clementi’s case the cyber bullies that bullied him are facing chargers or invasion. Additionally an individual can block the person who is cyber bullying them. This allows the person to never have any contact with that person ever again. Additionally, in “Predictors of Cyber Bullying Intervention among Elementary School Staff: The Moderation Effect of Staff Status”, Anne Williford and Kathryn J. Depolis explain how the staff should get involved with cyber bullying to help stop it. They state, “Effective responses by school staff to cyber incidents are needed. Yet, few studies to date have investigated how teacher attitudes, perceptions, and self-efficacy beliefs impact the likelihood of cyber bullying intervention” (Williford and Depolis 1033). The school needs to take part in cyber bullying. Even though it may seem they do not have anything to do with it as cyber bullying is typically done at home, the students will talk about it at school. Additionally, the teachers should be authority figures to the
students. The teacher should help the students get through the cyber bullying and punish those who are cyber bullying. These tips will never fully prevent cyber bullying, but it definitely helps. Although cyber bullying will never completely disappear, recognizing its impacts and ways to prevent it are a huge help. More American teenagers are being cyber bullied every day. In today’s society, cyber bullying is much worse than traditional bullying. It has much longer lasting effects and can be done from anywhere at any time. Cyber bullying causes many terrible effects. Most of which are detrimental to an American teenagers mental health. These mental health problems can lead to many horrible acts such as self-harm or suicide. Additionally, there are people out there called cyber predators that seek individuals to cyber bully. In the end, there are many things society can to do help decrease the problem of cyber bullying.
