Summary Of The Golden Goblet

The Golden Goblet, a book by Eloise Jarvis Mcgraw is about a boy in ancient egypt named Ranofer. Ranofer is a boy that wants to be a goldsmith but can’t because of his evil step brother Gebu. Soon Ranofer becomes suspicious of Gebu and with the help of his friends, Heqet and The Ancient, they stop Gebu from grave robbing and are honored highly by the queen. The most important part in the book may be when The Ancient and Heqet find Ranofer outside the tomb so that they could guard the tomb while Ranofer was fetching help so that he could catch Gebu and reshape his life. When Heqet and The Ancient found Ranofer outside the tomb, Ranofer was pacing back and forth, worried that Gebu was going to escape. If Ranofer had left minutes earlier, Gebu
may have escaped and beaten Ranofer to death for following him. If this happened, well, Ranofer would be dead so, he obviously would not have been able to stop Gebu from grave robbing, and would not have been able to alert the queen. This is also important because after Gebu is caught, Ranofer is given a donkey. Since he has the donkey, he will be able to sell reeds like the Ancient so he can buy a house. After he does that, he will be able to work with Zau instead of being a fingerless stonecutter. If Gebu had not been caught, Ranofer would not have been able to reshape his life and become a goldsmith again. If Ranofer had not been able to reshape his life, Ranofer would have had to deal with Gebu for the rest of Gebu’s life. Luckily, Gebu and Wennamon are hanged for grave robbing and Ranofer was able to reshape his life for the better because he was brave enough to follow Gebu into the tomb. That is why I believe that Ranofer being found by The Ancient and Heqet outside the tomb is the most important event in this book. It is because Ranofer is able to reshape his life so that he can become a goldsmith again, but this time apprentice to Zau after he receives a donkey from the queen and is able to buy a house.
