Summary Of The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street
"The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" is a play about a town where all the peoples power goes out and people start making false conclusions about their neighbors that they have lived with for years. It shows that even if you know a person for years you can still judge them about something that may not be true. Everyone in the town is pointing fingers and trying to blame someone for the power going out. It is hard to blame one person for the entire towns power shortage but human beings can do it without hesitation witch i think is surprising. The Author of this story is Rod Serling.

I feel as if it is very easy to make false conclusions about many people in the light of the event. You can point your finger at someone then ten minutes later

In “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” by Rod Serling, the events In the story advance the plot by continuing the story, for example In the story, if Tommy didn’t ever say that it was aliens, then they would have gone over to the police station and asked them what was happening. As the selection implies, Tommy didn’t want Mr. Brand to go because the aliens didn't want them to leave, this is a big part in the story because then they start to do all these crazy things. The second big thing is that Mr. Goodman's car starts by itself, and this rises suspicion to how it happened or maybe he has like some special alien powers that can control the car.…

Rod Serling’s message to the readers of “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” is that you shouldn't accuse people without reliable information. The theme begins to appear in the story when suddenly a meteor flies by overhead and catches everyone’s attention and all the power shut off. In the text it says, “Charlie and Steve are about to go downtown but then Tommy tells Steve to not leave. Because the monsters don’t want them to leave and that there could be monsters in their neighborhood.…

My idea for a theme for Monsters Due On Maple Street is that fear can change a persons judgement/opinion. In the beginning of the story there was a big flash or boom and then everyone's power simultaneously turned off. Everyone started questioning what was the problem but it led them nowhere seeing that their guesses really meant nothing based around their surroundings. Then Tommy tells Steve to not go which basically starts the whole situation involving fear because Tommy took a guess that it was aliens and that they wanted them to leave because they were aliens and everyone started second guessing each other.…

What caught my attention to this play was that the two authors were passionate about this theme for the play and obviously researched the history of the actual trial, in order to portray it as realistically as possible. This hard work and attention to detail created a very informative and memorable play. (Although some…

by Arthur Miller, societal conduct is violated and a community is capsized. In this socially awakening play, society is corrupted when a naivete community is immersed in power that enables insignificant people to manipulate the status quo to selfishly satisfy their own societal welfare and relationships. In times of distress, an individual may blindly diminish their societal relationships to consequentially benefit themselves. Once presented with power, Abigail takes advantage of it to manipulate those around her and accuse innocent people at will. When caught in the woods with Tituba and the other girls,…

A short play is usually filled with a theatrical energy of diverse anthologies. The time allotted may be only ten or fifteen minutes, so it must be able to capture and engage the audience with some dramatic tension, exciting action, or witty humor. Just as in a short story, a great deal of the explanation and background is left for the reader or viewer to discover on their own. Because all the details are not explicitly stated, each viewer interprets the action in their own way and each experience is unique from someone else viewing the same play. Conflict is the main aspect that drives any work of literature, and plays usually consist of some form of conflict. In “Playwriting 101: The Rooftop Lesson,” Rich Orloff explores these common elements of plays and creates an original by “gathering all clichés into one story and satirizing them” (Orloff as cited by Meyer, 2009, p. 1352).…

This man died of natural causes but he was the hero that was accused as a suspect in the bombing. This man is Richard A. Jewels a “temporary job as a guard, had spotted the abandoned green knapsack that contained the bomb,”(Sack1). I used this quote is we think the hero of the story is may have been the cause of the threat and that’s what he was accused for. So when I read on to this quote I think well he is the hero, but in reality he discover the bomb and no else saw it. I think people are wrongly accused because they were there at the wrong time and wrong place, but for peat sake he saved a few or so lives.…

Just by reading the play, we, the readers, understand that despite the evidence that may be presented or the setting and state of being a person might find themselves in, factors such as prejudice and individuality or conformity will somehow end up leading to mob mentality and/or a strong emotional bias. No matter how hard one may try to avoid the inevitable, they will never be fully successful in doing…
