as much as the hearing community can. Watching this film made me realize that deaf people went throug a lot in order to get to where they are today. I can say that I could somewhat relate to the film because I am unable to hear out of my right ear. Although Im not deaf I can understand the struggles that hearing families go through with a deaf child. When and if I do become deaf I will greatly look forward to using sign language as a way to communicate. However I will also communicate through speech for my family and friends. I am also able to relate to the film because of hearing people think sign language isnt a good thing, Due to the fact that not to long ago I had an audiology appointment with a small blonde lady who did not recommend taking sign language at all. In fact she didnt even mention it and when my mother brought it up, the small lady almost immediatly shot it down and recommended kockleor implants, or something to that effect. Another way I am able to relate is to the hearing tests the deaf kids had to take. The one where they ask you to say words such as Ice Cream, Baseball, Hot Dog, Cowboy, etc. I apparently never said cowboy. I did not like those tests because of how uncomfortable the headset was and never liked having things in my ears.
