Initially Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston/James Houston, and Scholastic action, the authors’ use of imagery is similar because they both talk about how the fathers’ both leave when the children are a young age to war. An example of one of the similarities in “War Changed My Dad” is, “...Isaiah couldn’t wait to wrestle and play catch with his dad, but he soon discovered that his dad was different. War changed
him…”
An example of one of the similarities in Manzanar is, “..He was different, I could see it in his face and how he looked at us...” The imagery the authors use makes you understand how both fathers had changed after their employment to the wars’.
Furthermore, Jeanne wakatsuki/James Houston, and scholastic action use of tone is similar because both fathers leave, making them sad. Then they return making them happy again, but turns out the fathers both are different after wars, making them sad once again. The conflicts were resolved and the authors were happy again. Henceforth sad, happy, sad, and happy again.
Jeanne wakatsuki and scholastic have many similarities in their writing. Their use of imagery and tone pronounced through their work helps express how they feel about their fathers’ before and after the wars’ happened.
