Sunset Place Museum Painting Analysis
Last Saturday, on February 17th, as I took care of my little brother while my parents when out on a date. I decided to visit a place called “Color Me Mine” studio on Sunset Place Mall; located at: 5701 Sunset Drive. A place not only for kids to have fun, but for the entire family as well. It brings out the creative side of you, while the instructors guide you all the way. It is a place where you choose your canvas or porcelain to paint it using your creativity. If you attend in a group of minimum 6 people, the painter will walk you through brushstroke by brushstroke how to make a fabulous painting. If you go in a smaller group of 1-4 people, you go in and choose your own table. After a couple of minutes, you will be instructed on what brushstrokes …show more content…
However, it was blissful to see how the painter was guiding the people in every step of the painting. Yet, the outcome from every person was different; you could sense their personalities in the colors that each of them used. For example, one person used darker colors in the landscape. It could indicate that it was sunset, and added a table in the sand with two glasses; it portrays that she is more of a romantic person, while other people used brighter colors to highlight nature. When I started choosing my colors for my giraffe porcelain, I struggled in choosing a yellow color for the body, because there were about 5 different yellows. However, my brother, a 9 year old boy, told me to choose the one I liked the most and not to worry. It made me laughed at that moment, but made me realized that it was not about perfectionism, but to have fun and create my own giraffe. In other words, when a painter does their masterpiece, they do not choose according to what people or society tells you it the correct color to use! It is about creating your own colors that identifies you. As I observed around me, there were 3 people painting the same porcelain as me; but every giraffe was unique, one had a brighter yellow, another one had black spots, or blue

One of the most influential artists of the Modern Period of art was James Whistler. Whistler was an accomplished printer and painter and a brief background of the painter allows us to understand Whistler, and why more than any artist of his time, he would be attracted to Japanese woodblock prints called Ukiyo-e. It is also essential to understand the essence of Ukiyo-e, Japanese aesthetics and its migration to the Western world. Additionally, a chronological selection of Whistler’s works must be analyzed showing how he integrated the lessons he learned from his exposure to Ukiyo-e.…

While visiting the Jaycee Park Centre for the Arts, this picture of cowboys rounding up cows on a ranch instantly caught my eye. The picture is a standard size of 3x3, and is square shaped. It is enclosed within a golden frame, which makes it more conspicuous. I was drawn to the picture by the cowboy who is wearing the red scarf, and sky blue shirt. The artist James Spurlock, has used him to capture the observer’s attention by using bold colors on his clothes as opposed to the other two cowboys, and the cows. The artist has also created an impression of distance as the cows in the front appear to be large in size. and clearer as compared to the two cowboys in the background. The element of a middle ground is present which is portrayed by the cowboy with the red scarf. He appears to be positioned between the cows in the front, and the other two cowboys in the back. The artist has been able to imply the texture of the cows’ skin using different brush strokes. One can see the roughness of the cows’ skin even without having to touch the smooth oil painted canvas. One cannot immediately tell the time of day when the picture was taken. This is because the background is not blue, but rather it is a greyish color, and most probably the cowboys are trying to lead the cows back to their stables for shelter before it rain. In the process of rounding up the cows, the surrounding is filled with dust resulting in the dark gold background.…

I went to the North Carolina Museum of Art on April 8th, a beautiful and sunny day. Being around the museum conjured a sense of nostalgia to my middle school days when I took a field trip to the museum. Since that last visit I have gained a better understanding about art and what goes into every piece of work. I have also gained more experience, back then I did not know how to shade properly and did not know a thing about composition. Now, I have a greater appreciation for every stroke of a brush and color applied. The reason I chose the North Carolina Museum of Art was solely to re-experience the art with my new artistic eye. While walking through the museum, I searched for that one piece of art that would catch my eye and inspire me to talk…

Merriam- Webster defines culture as “the integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon the capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generations.” Enticed by this, I go where any North Texas culture- seeking teenager would go: the Dallas Museum of Art. Walking in, I am overwhelmed by all the displays of expression; some are confusing, some are straightforward, and some are just plain odd. My friends and I make a game out of the experience, attempting to mimic the sculptures of the Olmec people and recreate art painted by Fernand Léger. The immersion sends me into a state of refreshment. The individualism that is manifested through mind blowing artwork inspires me to write again, to claim words as my own and place them down on paper in combinations that have never before been imagined.…

When I look at this picture I can see a chance, a possibility, it is not determined or pre-selected, but it exists. It reminds me about how people can easily say, “I give up!”, “It is too hard”, “It is too tiring” or “How long do I need to wait?”. My answer is “You need to wait just a bit”. One wise quote says, “After the storm, the rainbow comes” and I follow this quote for my whole life. However, I have also generated my own quote, “There is a light at the end of the pathway. You just need to make one more step to see it” and no matter how many times do I need to repeat it to myself about the same problem, which I encounter. Still, I can always see the light. The same with this picture, the tunnel depicts the life- path filled with the creations, wonders and dangers of life and there is a rainbow at the other end but while walking inside the tunnel, you cannot see it, only feel it. The painter is a creator of a life. I usually consider myself a painter and my life is a big painting, so I should decide which brush do I need to use, in which colors do I need to paint, whether the texture will be rough or smooth and which art elements do I want to add to my painting? All of these I can choose. The only one thing, which stays still, is a tunnel. Nonetheless, a canvas is not a crucial part of the masterpiece. It is solely my choice how my artwork will turn out. I can make a beautiful thing from anything. I can arrange decorations and add some interesting features to my…
