My prediction is that supertasters will have more fungiform papillae counted in the circle than regular tasters. According to my data, being a supertaster is related to fungiform papillae …show more content…
This means that about 27% of the class were nontasters. This was expected. According to one study, it was estimated that “25 percent [of the world’s population] fall into the nontaster category” (Eason, 2007). This number is significantly less than the tasters. This makes sense, since taste is based on genetics; basically, nontasters and supertasters are going to be less common. The density of fungiform papillae was much less. With less papillae, a person can’t taste things as well. There were 9 tasters out of 22 students. This means that about 41% of the class were tasters. I expected the number to be around this because the average in the world is 50%. The density found in regular tasters was 21.1+or- 8.3. This is significantly more than nontasters. This makes sense because a higher density would prove a person can taste things with more intensity. This is significantly less than supertasters. This makes sense because tasters have less fungiform papillae density than the supertasters, so they don’t taste things with as much
