The history of management is primordial as the history of civilization. Management means the process of designing and maintaining an environment in which individual working together in groups efficiently accomplish selected aims. In every organization, there is a manager who works to manage the human and material resources in order to obtain the organizational and individual objectives successfully. In an organization, the employees work as a group and manager provides them guidance to perform their jobs precisely. Then a manager performs the role of a leader and as a leader he wants to implement different strategies to inspire his employees. When a manager is a leader then he thinks about some factors such as the size of the organization, employee’s perception, his (managers) experience etc. Scholars and researchers have worked on different leadership theories and they have developed five models- autocratic, custodial, supportive, collegial, and system which a manger can apply to lead his employees. Each model is distinct from others because of its features and different outcomes. Among this five models, supportive model can be treated as a best model for a manager to govern his employees in an effective and efficient manner. This model is an output of a research that shows why managers showed prefer the supportive model.

The prevailing philosophy, values, mission, goals of managers affect, and are
affected by, their organizational behavior model. The supportive, collegial, and system
models are more consistent with contemporary employee needs and, therefore, will
