Swimming And Tiri Short Story Summary
Introduction

The character I was interested in describing was Tiri from a short story “Swimming and Tiri” written by Phil Kawana. The reason why I chose Tiri is because he is the most important person in the story. The second reason why I was interested in this character is because when he did some ruthless things to women, he never wanted his son to grow up and become like him. Tiri wanted his son to be a better person.

Tiri was a bad person. He would do bad things to girls and treat them badly. Tiri ‘‘warned her that If she told anyone he would kill her’’. I find Tiri a bad person in the story because he has no respect for women and also he threatens to kill them if they ever tell anyone. Tiri had to marry a woman named Mere because

Tita is more of a Victim than a Creator. Tita is a person that in times has a tendency of victimizing herself by not doing anything in a situation or makes an excuse to not do it. One of the ways Tita is a Victim is when she blames someone else in a situation than herself. At Mama Elena’s funeral Tita had gotten a moment to see Pedro, her endless love. Pedro had approach Tita with a hug after her sister, Rosaura. But Tita was still hurt with Pedro and the decision he had made by living her behind. Pedro, Rosaura, and Roberto starting a new life at San Antonio. “Pedro didn’t deserve to have her love him so much. Attempting to juke the ravages thirsty for the ball, I gripped it tightly as the timer ticked down. As the rush of adrenaline filled my head, I plunged myself into the barricade of the six colossal men before the buzzer beater. Falling behind four points against our rival water polo team, everyone’s self-esteem was low. Our poor team coordination, lack of communication, and weakness of doubt and fear dragged us down. From never leading a team in any activity to being given the leadership position of the water polo team, my transition from an inexperienced rookie to someone who was looked up to by everyone was frightening. Despite the poor start and this fast transition, I pushed out away my fear and persevered.…

I don’t know exactly where I am going. Maybe this comes as a shock to those who think that because someone has good grades, they have their live figured out. It astonishes me just how mistaken this view is. Being born in Cuba I was limited as to what options I had for my life path. Consequently, the transition from one country to another when I was just twelve years old was very frustrating and tough. Somehow I managed to get a grasp of the language and progressively ascend from the lowest English classes to the most advanced in my school. I never failed to be hard on myself though, and I apply this concept to almost everything I do. However, this way of thinking has not come at no cost. My thinking process can be quite obsessive at times.…
