Switzerland Personal Narrative
I am a citizen of the United States, but I am also a citizen of Switzerland, which makes me a duel citizen. My mother was born and raised in Switzerland. She moved over to the United States when she was about 18. My mom was 28 when she met my dad. She had me when she was 30. The first time I traveled to meet my mother's family was when I was six months old. Since then, I have made roughly 10 trips over to visit my family. I have a grandma, grandpa, uncle and two cousins. In the past years I have also made several friends.

Although I don't recall every single trip to Switzerland, there is one trip I recall very well. It was Christmas of 2009. It was the first year that I remember my family and I going together. It seems like on previous

It is on lake Geneva. It was one of the smaller castles I've been in. This one was very interesting to me. At the beginning of the tour my parents rented a translated version of the tour that you could listen to on headphones. I learned that this castle was completely on the lake with only one way in and out, they call it an island castle. The first known record of this castle was in 1005, and expanded in 1248. During the 16th century war of religion the Duke of Savoy used it to house prisoners. Its most famous prisoner was probably François de Bonivard, a Genevois monk. All around the castle there is a walkway at the top of so that guards could always survey the premises, both inside and out.

As a small child I was a big fan of Disney World and Disneyland. I spent several summers at each amusement park with my godparents. My parents surprised me with a special trip. We drove 6 hours to see the Neuschwanstein castle. It was very early in the morning and extremely cold. The castle is built on the top of a mountain. There were two options for getting up the mountain to see the castle, walking or by horse drawn carriage. We took the carriage in hopes that it would be slightly

From what I recall, the day was heated, as were most days living on the top floor of a run down, income based apartment complex. Our second hand wall air conditioner sucked, and we were miserable. While annoyingly listening to the foreign toddlers run up and down the hallway in their diapers, I made the decision; it was time to move.…

Crystal also says she will come to visit during the summer. Alice went to Folk to see her family. Jasper was helping Paul with the new client. Paul came home. Aro and Paul went outside to talk. I know that Aro was trying to talk Paul into moving to Italy. My brother does not give up. Once he gets an idea in his head does not forget or let it go. Aro has been that way ever since he was a child. He always wanted to be in control. Crystal says. I know I have been marrying to him forever. I say. Paul and Aro finally came in. What were you guys talking about? Do not worry I was not trying to talk Paul into moving to Italy. I was asking about buying a house here in Boston. Are we moving to Boston? I ask. No, the house is just a vacation house when…

    Double Effect

The Doctrine of Double Effect (DDE) is often invoked to explain the permissibility of an individual’s action that has two outcomes: one where the end result can be foresee and is good, the other that can also be foresee and is bad (Goldworth, Amnon, 2008). In other words, this doctrine is used to justify cases such as where doctors give drugs to patients to relieve severe pain (good result) knowing that doing so may shorten their life span (bad result). Under DDE, this action is justifiable because the physician intention is not aiming directly at killing the patients. The bad result of the patient’s death is a side effect of the good result of reducing the patient’s distressing pain. However, this doctrine is also a subject of controversy,…

People know Vermont’s Ben & Jerry’s Ice cream and maple syrup better than they know Vermont itself. This was true for me as well: I had no idea where Vermont was before I actually stepped on this land three years ago. The town called Manchester was as rural as I could imagine, but it brought me a fresh living experience and inspired me to appreciate the beauty of nature.…

I can’t seem to wrap my head around how drastically things can change in a short amount of time. It seemed as if I was in El Salvador a few months ago, when in reality it’s been two years. I can still remember every single detail of my trip. From getting coconut water when first arriving to saying goodbye to family before heading to the airport. All I can picture is the beautiful green fields and the little corner shops. I can still hear the sound of kids playing in the streets and the ringing bells of ice cream carts. The image I have of El Salvador is completely different to what it is like now.…

I dislike being asked “Where are you from?” because I do not consider myself from any specific place. I have moved around several times as a child, which has given me the opportunity to meet different kinds of people each from distinct walks of life. Being faced with the challenge of meeting new people has taught how to come out of my comfort zone at any given moment. The experiences I have had in life has caused me to become an outgoing, hardworking, and very multicultural person.…

We took this trip during summer break. My wife and I decided this trip so all of our family can go together. My father in law and I were taking turns driving it took us about 12 hours to get to Louisiana. The ride was very exhausting for everybodyI had gotten tired so my father in law took the wheel. My wife woke me up as soon as we got to the bridge; to cross to Louisiana I was so excited to see the water and all the trees that she had told me about. We went to her uncles house to sleep and to stay for the trip. After we slept we went to New…

Cross-Country was coming up and I knew that I had to get back in shape of running, about three-five miles a day. I wanted to be ready for my coaches to be “woah” , in the first race in Cross-Country.I also wanted to set my P.R. - Personal Record- high up on the scale because I want to stand out and become the best I can be. With my confidence, Coach Klenke and Coach Puls saying running through my head.”RUN, RUN, RUN, even if you feel your feet hurting and legs killing you push through it, and keep going, feel more confident, you know you are doing it right when your brain wants you to stop, BUT DON'T!!!!” I began to set up where, and when, and how far I would be running.…

I was lucky enough to be able to fly out to New York City, and experience things kids my age generally are not able to experience. It was amazing! Although we only stayed for a couple days, we were able to do much with the time we had. My family and I reached the top of the Empire State Building, walked about central parked, ate pizza, and much more. The hotel was beautiful, but we stayed in a tight room which my four family members and I could hardly fit in.…
