SWOT Analysis of Starbucks
The point of a SWOT analysis is to help you develop a strong business strategy by making sure you’ve considered all of your business’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as the opportunities and threats it faces in the marketplace.("SWOT," “n.d.”) Is a SWOT analysis necessary for all organizations? Who should write it and why? This paper will show SWOT for the company Starbucks. "The ideal outcome of a SWOT is accurate data that can be utilized to create a solid action plan for addressing a weakness and threats, and highlighting or positively exploiting your strengths and opportunities," Schenck and Giangrande told Business News Daily("SWOT," 2015) To purposefully complete this SWOT analysis, questions from Rob Berman’s blog will be used. This paper will also include the history, products and major competitors of the company chosen.
Starbucks Coffee opened its first store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market in 1971. Starbucks is a profitable and global franchise that has literally become a household name. Starbucks coffee has over 16,000 stores in 40 countries. “From our beginnings as a single store over forty years ago, in every place we’ve been, and every place that we touch, we’ve tried to make it a little better than we found it” (starbucks.com, 2011) This is where Starbucks began.
