Section: Distance, June 15 – July 10, 2015 Course Description: An interactive experience designed to look at the many aspects of change. We will discuss how change affects both our personal and organizational lives. We will examine the techniques for positively initiating organizational change, and how to make that change challenging for both the leader and the employee. We will learn what skills are necessary to become a successful change leader and we will discuss the organizational and societal issues that impact change leaders. Writing Lab (OWL) Site: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/ Course Goals: To introduce the student to the change process and the steps individuals go through when they face change in their personal or organizational lives.
To introduce the student to the concept of change and how it affects the leader as well as the employee. Emphasis will be placed on the human side of the change process.
To introduce the students to some contemporary change issues, especially the challenge companies face with continuous change in today’s fast-paced, competitive business environment.
To instill in students the importance of researching ideas and bringing those ideas to their future organizations in a creative and meaningful way.
To develop a change model that overlays some of the present change management thinking to be used as a tool for initiating and sustaining change in future workplace endeavors.
