The balloon is telling him that he needs to grow up and start acting like an adult because he will need to be one. He has not come of age yet and with this he is going to need to. The red balloon that Nia hands over to Bobby symbolizes her childhood in this novel. I chose this because balloons are something that make little kids happy, and also a second reason is that she is still a kid/teen and she wants that kid side back. my third reason is a balloon will float away if you let go so try to have a tight grip and don't let anything in between. The balloon could symbolize as love or being mean, but Nias childhood is mostly over now that she is having a baby. When you are about to deal with a hard situation like Nia and Bobby you have to mature, and that is very difficult when you are only fifteen or sixteen. This is important because it shows maturity.…

A symbol contains several layers of meaning, often concealed at first sight, and is representative of several other aspects, concepts or traits. “Murder is not about lust and it’s not about violence it’s about possession”, this was said by the infamous psychopathic rapist, Ted Bundy. He caused hundreds of people misery, forcing them to see the unthinkable nightmare, dismembered bodies of their loved and dear ones. Mr. Harvey reminded me of Ted Bundy, they both share similar physical characteristics and they have the same fixation. Ted and Mr. Harvey, the antagonist in the novel The Lovely Bones murdered their victims by strangling them, robbing them of their final breaths and making them struggle. George Harvey, a 36-year-old neighbor who…

The poem “To This Day” by Shane Koyczan, It summarizes that people are cruel sometimes and they can't see everything and they can't live the life that some kids live and how bullying is pushed out of the way and it affects kids for their whole life. A girl is made fun of because people say “kids used to say she looks like a wrong answer that someone tried to erase but couldn’t quite get the job done.” There making fun of her and they don't realize it can hurt her feelings because she has a birthmark on her face and she can't control that and she is born with that mark on her face so she does not deserve to be treated like that. In the picture of her i think the symbol is cruelty and i think the author chose that because he is trying to point…

For my summer reading project I chose Melody. For this project we had to pick three symbols for our poster. The three symbols I included were a Mello Yello can, the cerebral palsy symbol, and a brain. I chose a Mello Yello can because that was Melody’s favorite drink. She loved it so much that she was nicknamed “Mello Yello”. In the book it stated “Mello Yello was my favorite. Mrs. V even started calling me that.” (Draper, pg. 44). This was important because she loved being called this. I placed this symbol next to her hand instead of in her hand because she was never able to hold things by herself. She always somebody to feed her and give her drinks. The next symbol I chose to draw was the cerebral palsy sign. I did this because she has been diagnosed with this condition ever since she was born. It is and always will be a huge factor in her life. She will never be the same as everyone else, which makes her feel left out. This represents how she has and always will live. I put it on her shirt because she will have to deal with it everyday much like she has to wear a shirt and get dressed everyday. The final symbol I chose to put on my summer reading poster was a…
