The way in which I connected was with the struggle to find a career to enjoy in my life. This was a struggle for freedom of choice for a career path between what my parents expected me to do and what I was passionate about. I can relate to the bird in the poem when it says, “For he must fly back to his perch and cling When he fain would be on the bough-a swing”, meaning that the bird has to settle for the perch when he would rather be on the tree branch (Lines 10-11). In my life, it has been a struggle for compromise between my parents and I about what career path I should take.
