SYNOPSIS
Introduction
New media is an on-demand access to content anytime, anywhere, on any digital device. Another aspect of new media is the real-time generation of new, unregulated content. The rise of new media has increased communication between people all over the world and the Internet. It has allowed people to express themselves through blogs, websites, pictures, and other user-generated media. New media "radically break the connection between physical place and social place, making physical location much less significant for our social relationships".
Until the 1980s media relied primarily upon print and analog broadcast models, such as those of television and radio. The last twenty-five years have seen the rapid transformation into media which are predicated upon the use of digital technologies, such as the Internet.
Importance
The Internet provides a constant, ever-changing source of information and entertainment, and can be accessed from most smart phones as well as tablets, laptops, and computers. Email, blogs, social networks, and message boards allow for both public and anonymous communication about any topic. But how much is too much Internet usage is done by today’s youth?
The role of smart phone has created the inability to be in complete solitude, and the potential of ruining relationships. The smart phone activates the insular cortex of the brain, which is associated with feelings of love. People show similar feelings to their phones as they would to their friends, family and loved ones. Countless people spend more time on their phones, while in the presence of other people than spending time with the people in the same room or class.
When today’s youth are very much indulged in the usage of internet, they might not be able to achieve face to face communication with the friends and the family. There are many instances where they talk to each other on Facebook the entire day and they are in
