Chapter I The Problem and its Background

1.1 Introduction

An information system is a set of people, procedures and resources that collects, transforms and disseminates information in an organization. To provide the customers with a good quality service and to distribute equal jobs to the employees, a company must use this information system efficiently.

The nature and infrastructure of advanced IT which present the forms, reports, and other data requirements used in the current system are significant to the proposed system after selecting a client the researchers conducted interviews and observations about the client to gather the needed information and requirements for the proposed system.

Gerodias Medical Clinic & Drugstore, the selected client of this study, is a private type of clinic that mainly concerns in attending and providing health benefits for the public that needs medical attention by giving proper consultations, prescriptions, treatments and recommendations. The Medical Clinic has the major functions in checking patients, taking laboratory test of patients, handling their confidential information, and dealing with the business transactions of the clinic.

The gathered information was initialized to further analyze the system they use to determine the possible problems that the clinic might encounter. It was found out that one of many problems they encounter is the mismanagement of the patient and medicinal supply records, the researchers proposed solution for the problem existed.

So, the proposed system will be of great help to the clinic with regards to their transactions in such a way that it will improve the performance of the employees. Thus, it will help maintain the credibility of the clinic.

1.2 Background of the Study
