I think businessmen were PlayBook’s primary customers at the time of its launch for the reason that RIM provides an advanced tethering system, with unique benefits for managing the tablets, keeping information in sync, and protecting data. That is, only by connecting the PlayBook to a BlackBerry one can access to information such as email, calendar, etc. Moreover, once the PlayBook exceeds a specified range from its connected BlackBerry, the tethering system will automatically cease the connection in which way the data can be well protected. Even better, once the connection is terminated, no data from the BlackBerry phone will remain on the PlayBook.
Average consumers were the primary customers for iPad. The outstanding advantage of iPad is there are considerable amounts of apps available for iPad including all the apps for iPhone. IPad is an excellent device for reading e-books, viewing videos and photos, playing games and surfing the internet. And most people spend their indoor spare time on computers which iPad can take place with its great features as a reading device, player and game console, etc.
2. Do you think that both devices provided adequate value to their customers? Which of these two tablets do you prefer and why?
Yes, both devices provided adequate value to their customers. PlayBook’s customers such as businessmen will be impressed by its ability to multitask and vedioconference and more important the enhanced security. IPad’s customers will enjoy this great device in a different way. IPad is a convenient and portable entertainment device that can do almost all the work as a computer does. People can read newspapers, watch videos or play games while commuting on a subway or bus.
