Taking risks
Taking Risks Have you ever wondered how people end up in the careers that they are in? I always asked myself, “how did they get there, how did they do it,” especially when it came to people who were very successful. The answer was by taking risks. Risks are necessary in life in order to do new things in life. As we get older we learn that when we fail we have to just get up and continue on with our lives. In doing so we gain an awareness of the world we live in. Life would be really dull if we did not take some kind of risk and be able to explore the amazing things this world has to offer. Having the courage to take risks in life is important because it gives you the opportunity to explore your interests, discover inner abilities, and realize your dreams. By taking a chance you are allowing yourself to grow and conquer your fears as I did when I signed up for the Regional Occupational Program (ROP) class for animal health care at my high school. Ever since I was in preschool I always wanted to be a teacher but, when I got to high school I had a change of heart. All my family and friends would tell me “You won’t get enough money to support yourself when you are older” or “You’ll only get minimum pay.” I realized yes they are semi right because while I was in high school teachers were always telling the students that they were cutting their paycheck and even letting teachers go. My perspective on things changed when I started hearing horrifying stories about animals being homeless, killed or being abused which made me really change my mind on my career. I decided that I wanted to be a veterinarian so I can change the lives of animals. Before I was even born my parents owned a dog and I grew up with it until he died when I was eight which shows that we have always had a dog in our home. My family and I are really big animal lovers; we have had dogs, rabbits, fishes, turtles and chicks. My family and I help by signing petitions to stop animal cruelty around the
