Taming Of The Shrew Comparison

“10 Things I Hate About You” as well as “The Taming of the Shrew” are very similar to each other and that the “10 Things I hate about you” is based off “The Taming of the Shrew”. One similarity that I can point out right away is that at the end everything was a happy ending and everyone got there “loved one”

The one difference about these two plays that are pretty obvious is that both of the play were made at different times like in the movie “10 things I hate about you” the characters are dating and not into anything to serious but in “The taming of the shrew” when all the characters met they, one fell in love right away, two they did sex and got married not to long before they met. The father of Kat and Bianca and his desire to not allow Bianca to date until Kat does. The father does this knowing that Kat is in no way interested to date someone. Kat looks like an angry stuck up girl in her last year of high school who just wants to be her own person. “Am I that transparent? I want you, I need you. Oh, baby. Oh, baby” is just one example to support her being very stuck up. Bianca on the other hand is a snotty sophomore who believes her sister is out to ruin her life. One difference is that Bianca, who defends her sister at the end of the film, while in the play Bianca, refuses to obey her husband in the end. Some of the differences and similarities come from a few different characters, for example, Cameron from “10 Things I hate about you” is like the character Lucentio from “The Taming of the Shrew” Lucentio is very bold in himself, unlike Cameron who is very shy about Bianca. These two characters are also alike, in the fact, they both disguised themselves as some sort of teacher. Lucentio actually disguised himself as a teacher, and Cameron actually learned French so that he would be able to be Bianca’s French tutor. The play shows a lot of gender dominance, loyalty and obedience and the importance it plays in relationships and how to treat females. The story of Kat and Patrick’s relationship shows that you shouldn’t judge people on appearances. Patrick thinks there is no way he could actually like Kat but in the end she turns out to be the girl he falls in love with. The idea of not judging on appearances relates to real life. At the beginning of the film Michael walks through the courtyard with Cameron and informs him about the different social groups at Padua High School.
