She has still kept her close group of friends from her former high school and hangs out with them every other week. With relatives, she is very close to the mother’s side of the family however, she avoids contact with her father’s side of the family. She stated, “They give off a bad vibe.” Regarding family and siblings, she says she has gotten an even more closer bond since her father’s passing. Tanya states she still has disagreements and arguments with them, but they resolve at the end of the day. When problems arise, she usually says what she feels or walks away to avoid arguments. Tanya says she is happy at the moment, but usually feels sad when she thinks about her dad. She is secure and relaxed since she now does not have too much homework and has free time when she does not work. I know this because she usually goes out with her friends and she loves taking pictures of herself. “Self-esteem rises from mid-to late adolescence for most young people, who report feelings especially good about their peer relationships, physical appearance, and athletic capabilities” (Berk, p. 589).
