Introduction
This paper will focus on evaluating my own leadership strengths and weaknesses and goals for leadership development.

Seven Habits Profile and Findings
After completing the Seven Habits Profile for myself I was not at all surprised at the findings. I’ve always been good at showing kindness and consideration to others, and try hard to keep my promises and honor my commitments. I know what I want to accomplish in life, and I make plans and goals, but I often let distractions in.

My family is my biggest distraction. All of their tasks and activities come before mine, and always have. I also love to help other people, and I say yes to everyone and everything. It’s exhausting sometimes, and even though I realize that I shouldn’t say yes to everyone all the time, I still do. Then I struggle with completing “MY” tasks that must get done either for work, school, or church. I procrastinate, and find myself in a tailspin at the end of the week or just before a deadline. I hate that I do it, and say to myself all the time that I will never do this again, and the next week or month it happens again.

In my defense, I do some of my best work under pressure, and I feel more accomplished when I work like this versus planning ahead. So, maybe this is why I do it time and time again. However, I do start each week with a “To Do List,” and I do make plans for myself not to be rushed and hurried, it just doesn’t always work out that way.

During the first half of this course, I have been given the opportunity to read about qualities that a leader should possess. Along with the reading, the author has provided audits that when taken would help me to survey my leadership style and determine to what degree I possess these qualities. This leadership audit is a combination and analysis of the individual audits contained within the reading and will serve as a tool to boost my leadership skills to better serve those that I lead more effectively.…

When given the assignment of choosing a behavior of mine that I thought I needed to change, I had to really think hard about it. At first, I thought about doing the obvious of changing my eating and exercise habits. However, that week I had just gotten the results of my anatomy exam, and after seeing the grade I got I knew something had to change. This is when I decided to choose to change the way I look at my school work. For that reason, I chose to focus on my study habits by choosing the behavior of procrastination. I choose this behavior of procrastination because since starting my freshman year of college, I had struggled with getting into the routine of spending time on each subject daily. I had found that my old habits of waiting…

Working as nurse for several years has allowed me to learn how to effectively prioritize my actives on a daily basis. Several researchers, including Joe Landsberger (Study Guides and Strategies, 1996), have stated that it is important to help yourself become aware of how you use your time. Creating a list and prioritizing it can help schedule goals around plans, and leisure time around running errands. It is important to separate the daily “to do” list form the “in the near future.” This keeps goals within a tangible manner. Setting realistic and achievable daily obligations and straying from overloading yourself is essential. I believe, if something…

Twenty percent of people identify themselves as chronic procrastinators. For them procrastination is a lifestyle, albeit a maladaptive one. And it cuts across all domains of their life. They don't pay bills on time. They miss opportunities for buying tickets to concerts. They don't cash gift certificates or checks. They file income tax returns late. They leave their Christmas shopping until Christmas eve.…

Whether it comes to homework or to having a lot of places to be at once, I can always get it done when it needs to be done. When I know that I have a deadline of some sort coming up, I always try my best to get it done early so that I’m not as stressed when that deadline gets here. There are days when I have homework in like five classes, as well as a deadline in yearbook, and I’ll literally finish every single bit of it, no matter how late I have to stay up. When I see people looking really stressed and everything because of how much they have to do, most of the time they are freaking out. Somehow, I am always able to keep a positive attitude and keep my calm. Yes, there are times where I might want to pull my hair out, but I finish what needs to be done without showing a drop of emotion. Those are some reasons why I feel I ‘own’ at working under…

    Reflective Essay

For a long time procrastination was my vice and I certainly was guilty of it. Starting in the 6th grade, I always did my homework at the last possible minute and never scheduled my time well or at all for that matter. Inevitably soon enough, my grades started slipping as proven by my first progress report. That was when I realized that I have to proactively do something, slacking was just not going to cut it. At ACLC, there were no teachers chastising you if you didn’t do your work, you were your own responsibility, the message was something like…welcome to the real world. After much trial and error, I decided the next year to use my planner that I each learner received every year. That helped me immensely, and I always hated the idea of planning until I learned that sometimes it’s completely necessary. From that small but significant epiphany, I learned one of the most difficult concepts: time management. I now use my planner everyday and have never missed an assignment. This has really prepared me for college because there isn’t anyone who will make you do anything, you have to fight temptations and put your priorities in order, just as I did during my seven years at ACLC. I discovered that you ultimately are your own responsibility; you always have a choice whatever one you choose in the end is entirely up to you. You can sit on your bum and do nothing or you…

    Creature of Habit

Since I am a firm believer in getting the worst part over with, I thought it would be appropriate to take a closer look at my negative habits first. Now, nobody is perfect, and I'm certainly not an exception to this, so I do have my share of bad habits. Probably the most prominent, and consequently the one that hinders me most, is my lack of a work ethic. I am admittedly quite lazy. I procrastinate excessively and I am lax to do things that I am ill- or not motivated to do. I find it odd that I possess this habit due to the fact that it is not a result of genetic inheritance. Both of my parents are very successful and effective businesspeople and I find it bewildering that I do not share their passion for work and the incredible responsibility they hold sacred. It is obvious that this habit hinders me in many ways as I often fail to meet deadlines including, but not limited to, homework due dates, scheduled meeting times, or certain chores or tasks given to me either at home or at work. It also hinders…
