Choosing Behavior Analysis
When given the assignment of choosing a behavior of mine that I thought I needed to change, I had to really think hard about it. At first, I thought about doing the obvious of changing my eating and exercise habits. However, that week I had just gotten the results of my anatomy exam, and after seeing the grade I got I knew something had to change. This is when I decided to choose to change the way I look at my school work. For that reason, I chose to focus on my study habits by choosing the behavior of procrastination. I choose this behavior of procrastination because since starting my freshman year of college, I had struggled with getting into the routine of spending time on each subject daily. I had found that my old habits of waiting …show more content…
I have held myself to much higher standards and try wholeheartedly to stick to my regiment. Though at the beginning my grade in the class is not where I want it to be, it has improved. This is all due to do the study habits I have come up with. During this process, I have tried many different study techniques to see what works best, and I have discovered that making Quizlet flashcards works best for me. Also, the more I go through the deck, the better it sticks in my memory and I learn the material. This technique works best when I study for lab exams, because I am able to add pictures and mimic what the actual test will look like. I have found much success; however, it has not come without some …show more content…
Due to this, I would treat the rest of the day I had as free time. It was something I had never really had the chance to experience. While in high school, I did not have a lot of free time on school nights. My nights were filled with either work, basketball practice, homework, or some nights all three. However, with the start of this school year, I did not have to worry about any of it. I had this freedom of not having anything tying me down and I did not have my parents constantly looking over my shoulder as I did homework to make sure it was getting done. Even while I was in classes this previous summer, the program I was in had my day planned out for me. Though I was still taking college courses, the Groups Program had a more ridged structure to it that I felt was analogues to a high school schedule in the sense that I was constantly in class from 8:30 – 5p.m. Monday thru Friday. Additionally, being a stem student required me to attend study tables were I was forced to do homework from 7 – 9p.m. Monday thru Thursday. So I really did not have free time, and was forced to do my homework. I have had to learn how to productively utilize my free time in order to succeed in

The art of procrastination has troubled high school kids for quite some time now. Im sitting here typing my own essay at the eleventh hour, hoping that as the deadline approaches I can piece together an essay to save my grade. “Procrastination is for the efficient at heart”, this quote captures the procrastinators only strength: the ability to make the most out of the time they have. Most students will crack as the pressure of meeting the deadline with quality work overbears them, as they regretfully wish they spent their time wiser. Few will rise up to the challenge and meet the standards, but what separates the students who succeed and those who miserably fail?…

Procrastination is a trait I have wanted to change about myself for a very long time. I always put things off telling myself I will get to it, which leads to years of stalling. Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is hard for me to stop procrastinating. I believe I do my best writing at the last minute. I usually wait until the night before to do most of it. I am usually up late the night before the paper is due. Having things due dates has kept me on task, and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your result will be. That was my mistake with the argumentative paper.…
