I have held myself to much higher standards and try wholeheartedly to stick to my regiment. Though at the beginning my grade in the class is not where I want it to be, it has improved. This is all due to do the study habits I have come up with. During this process, I have tried many different study techniques to see what works best, and I have discovered that making Quizlet flashcards works best for me. Also, the more I go through the deck, the better it sticks in my memory and I learn the material. This technique works best when I study for lab exams, because I am able to add pictures and mimic what the actual test will look like. Due to this, I would treat the rest of the day I had as free time. It was something I had never really had the chance to experience. While in high school, I did not have a lot of free time on school nights. My nights were filled with either work, basketball practice, homework, or some nights all three. However, with the start of this school year, I did not have to worry about any of it. I had this freedom of not having anything tying me down and I did not have my parents constantly looking over my shoulder as I did homework to make sure it was getting done. Even while I was in classes this previous summer, the program I was in had my day planned out for me. Though I was still taking college courses, the Groups Program had a more ridged structure to it that I felt was analogues to a high school schedule in the sense that I was constantly in class from 8:30 – 5p.m. Monday thru Friday. Additionally, being a stem student required me to attend study tables were I was forced to do homework from 7 – 9p.m. Monday thru Thursday.
