The strings and upper woodwinds played these chords that sounded extremely sharp. This sharpness was soon resolved when other instrumental groups came in. Soon after this, the oboe had a solo. While this solo was going on, the strings were plucking notes. Soon after this, the strings got the main melody with the french horns. The main melody then switches to the oboe with the strings playing a baseline part. Those sharp chords soon came up again, but this time the chords sound better in term of intonation. The french horns also come in as a harmony to the oboes. The next instrument group to get the main melody is the flutes. Once again the strings provided the baseline. At the beginning of the second movement, the harp has a beautiful part that counters the melody beautifully. Soon after the harp, the choir came in perfectly. In this movement, the choir is portraying the hero's achievements in a patriotic way. The third movement, started with a gong shortly followed by two hits on the bass drum. This transition is led by the horns with the choir following shortly behind. The choir sings a part that sounds like battle in coming. This is also portrayed with the tube playing very low eighth notes. This is followed with the strings playing a part that sounds like they are the citizens weeping as the forefront gets closer (the tuba). They play this part multiple times over again. The orchestra is phenomenal and the conductor is even better. Peter Lipari, the conductor, loves music, and he moves you the way he conducts. He has a presence on the stage that lets you feel the meaning inside the music from the way he conducts. He’s also very intelligent in how he explains the pieces, to get you interested in them. I have been to past orchestras that my mom has played in, and I always look forward to this orchestra because of how they play. If you are interested in going, they have three more concerts on 4/29, 6/16, and 7/14. All in all, all these two pieces we really well done, and it was a challenge to pick a favorite. Each piece had its own characteristics that made it truly amazing, whether it was the rhythms, musicians, or tone of the piece. Out of all the concerts that I have gone to, this one ranks up with the
