Dear Mr.Rowe,

Thank As a former student, I thank you for the time you took to plan. I thank you for the hours you put into your lessons, but also your willingness to let that time go when opportunities happened in the classroom for deeper learning and you scrapped your plans to teach where we, the students, were are the time. Thank you for the time you took to set up your classroom. Thank you for giving me something to look at in the moments of distraction that helped my mind get back to learning. Thank you for the seating charts and seating changes that helped me learn better, even if I or other students fought them.Thank you for the care you showed. Day after day, I could never doubt that you cared about me. Though I may have loved your class, your subject, or thought you were cool, I did ALWAYS know that you cared about me. That really did make me care about what you were trying to teach. I definitely cannot deny it.Thank you for going the extra mile for me. Thank you for being a great teacher. Thank you for trying new strategies. Thank you for staying after school. Thank you for quick turnaround in grading. Thank you for…well…everything. Thank you, Teacher!

Sincerely

Reygie villanueva

First of all, you were probably the funniest/most entertaining teacher I have ever had throughout my elementary and secondary education. I thoroughly enjoyed coming to your class. You made learning lots of fun. Your students became apart of your lectures so many times it was like we was living the history you were teaching. You have a lot of passion for your job, teaching us and personally made me want to give the same amount of effort…

In addition to my enthusiasm for investing in young lives, I have done some volunteering as a teaching assistant to get some hands-on classroom experience for formal teaching. My experience at the school allowed me to acquire a number of skills and also help enhance my weaker ones. The key skills and strength that I possess for success include my enthusiasm and dedication to my assigned duties and my ability to support and inspire young people through being a good listener to them and offering appropriate advice. I am also highly skilled in assisting the instructor in supervision of students’ arrival and departure time, performing clerical and record keeping tasks and maintaining discipline of the classroom in the absence of the instructor. One of my greatest strengths is helping maintain a well-disciplined learning environment, with minimal interruptions and maximum productivity. This is achieved by pulling misbehaving students aside, reinforcing positive behaviour, and implementing a reward system.…

It has gone so incredibly fast. I can honestly say that I am going to miss this class. I am not going to miss the drive to Collinsville, though. I feel that I have grown a great bit while making my way through this Cross Cultural cluster. I never once dreaded having to work all day and then having to go to class and sit for four hours. My classmates are great. As a class, we always made it fun and entertaining. I do hope that I am blessed with having them in class with the rest of my journey seeking my bachelor’s degree. I have plenty of class left to conquer. Lastly, thank you, Professor Anderson! You made this cluster to be unlike any that I have experienced thus far. You made me feel comfortable from day one. I am a real big fan of your spontaneousness and flexibility. You could really feel your passion each night we met. You could tell you wanted to be there teaching us. Again, thank you. And, it would bring me great joy to have you again as my…

America is a multi-cultural country that has so many different people from different cultural background. The diversity also brings American people great cultural resources; even creates the unique and distinctive culture that represents America. In this class, I have taught so many great artists who were not originally from America and they mixed their own culture with the American spirits. In the class, I was introduced to two interesting terms: confiscation and fusion. Both words have the meaning of taking other people’s things as their own.…

In this student success class I have learned four very important skills that will help me not only in my years of college, but also throughout the rest of my life. One of the most important things I learned was time management. Another important skill that I learned was better reading skills. Right next to organization skills and more importantly for me is critical thinking. All of these skills have taught me to study better and in turn get better grades. These are important for a college student to know, and by using them I will be a better student.…

    Teacher Assistant

This semester, I decided to do my practicum by giving back and becoming a teacher assistant at Washington Parks Academy. Teacher assistants are people that help teachers with different instructional work using lesson plans and providing support to allow teachers more time for teaching and lesson planning. They do other duties such as, supervising children in the lunchroom, tutoring, and recording grades. I attended this school in my 7th and 8th grade year so it was very rewarding to have the chance to come back and help different elementary students. My adult partner was a 4th grade science teacher by the name of Mrs. Dreyer. She is a graduate from GVSU with a Bachelors in Science, major in Integrated Science, and minor in Elementary education. It was her first year teaching there and she has always liked working with different elementary students. Being a teacher assistant provided some valuable experience for me. As a teacher assistant, my experience included monitoring 4th graders and assisting Mrs. Dreyer in whatever task that needed to be done. The roles and responsibilities that I was given was completing assigned homework problems individually, collecting/distributing sets of examinations or different handouts, and preparing different equipments at the start of class. I was also able to work in the laboratory to make sure that supplies and equipment was in order, preparing and monitoring laboratories, grading assignments, and cleaning up at the end of class.…

Much of the transformation and impactful experiences in my life have taken place in the presence of others with a while leading backpacking trips, retreats, or during tutoring session. These are experiences of reflection and learning as well as connecting on a deeper level with people I normally would not. One of my passions is teaching, which I have also been able to explore during trips/retreats in addition to the obvious application to tutoring. Since I have been a freshman in high school, I have tutored a wide variety of students from preschool to college seniors. Seeing the range of students has given me insight of how people think and different ways I can approach and help them. The moment when a student understands a new concept or a…
