By working primarily with younger children in the past, it has allowed me to learn patience, as well as how to communicate ideas in different ways so I could reach a wide variety of people. I think these skills are important in any aspect of life, but would be especially useful as an Orientation Leader. The job description is basically, being able to share what you know in a way that is helpful and easy to understand to a diverse group of people. You are at their service, so communication is key and a little patience never hurt anyone either. …show more content…

As someone who has recently attended orientation, I remember just how nerve-wracking the idea of State can be. Doubts flood your mind as you see the huge campus, and you wonder how you'll make it to your dorm, much less to all of your classes on time! Orientation Leaders get to help ease these nerves in a way that’s fun, and I want to be that person. I want to be involved and know that I've helped someone and what better way to do that than to welcome a new generation of the Wolfpack to their new home.
