Teamwork In Health Care

This document is imperative to our profession because it encourages pharmacist to work with all providers to improve the well-being of patients in the long run. Because each provider specializes in different areas, they can come together to fully assess the patient, and make plans to improve his or her health. I believe teamwork is very important in an individual’s health treatment and improvement. In addition, teamwork will bring all providers together so the patient sees them as one instead of separate. I sometimes hear people say that they only listen or trust to their doctors or pharmacists, and that may cause some conflict. In my opinion, this document may decrease such division because of communication. When both providers and pharmacists
have the same goal and agree on the same treatment (because they are collaborating), the patient may not have to choose which providers to listen to. Furthermore, I like how this document shows the importance of a pharmacist, and that a pharmacist cannot be replaced because of our expertise. Finally, the document expands the role of a pharmacist, especially in a community setting. If this paper is used as a guideline in community pharmacy, then a pharmacist’s role could change from dispensing medication to more patient center role.
