February 12, 2013 “The cell phone” Technological advancements made a tremendous impact on the lives of the people of the 20th century. These dynamic changes in technology are what improve life. One major technological advancement that has greatly changed lives is the cell phone. This piece of technology has revolutionized the way in which we stay connected with friends and family, it increased the amount of safety that we have with us and also saves us a lot of time. Cell phones have vastly changed the way we communicate today. A cell phone can be all you need for communicating. Now instead of going over to my friend’s house and catching up on life I can just text her daily and always know what’s going on. Even though we lose face-to-face contact-- and some may say it kills socialization—but it still allows us to have contact with a person 24/7. Since we can be more connected we are able to know what is going on in each other’s lives and have a stronger friendship. We are able to be in contact with everyone no matter where we are or how far we are. If somebody takes a long distance trip you can just call them and have the same kind of conversation you would in person. This helps us not to grow apart when a loved one goes away and still be a part of their lives. It allows us to know how what goes on in different parts of the world and how our friends live different lifestyles. Cell phones increase personal safety by providing an easy means of contacting others during an emergency. If our car breaks down in the middle of the freeway we can just call a tow truck and he can come rescue us. You can also save lives with cell phones. If somebody has an Katsura 2 emergency and needs the paramedic you can just pull out your cell phone and call 9-1-1 and they will be over in minutes to help the person out. This allows us to feel safe and secure all the time

Cell phones come in handy during an emergency. First, if someone is driving and lands into an accident, most cars don’t have the “GM on star” button so they are most likely to use their cell phone to get help. Anyone can dial 911, and get the help they need in just a matter of seconds. Whereas if someone didn’t own a cell phone it would be very difficult to get help as fast. There are times where someone can be in a very critical situation where if they do not get the help they need as soon as possible they could potentially die. For example, if someone’s head got cracked open during the car accident they would immediately need help from the paramedics. Also, if there is an urgent situation, where you believe there is someone following you for example, and your life is in danger then cell phones are there as a tool. One can easily contact the police or a family member to seek help, and save their life. In contrast, if someone did not have a phone then the “stalker” has a better chance of getting a hold of you. It will make it hard for someone to escape a situation like this. Thirdly, cell phones also come in handy when you forget to inform your parents or friends about any new event coming up. For example, unexpectedly you have to stay after school to finish a test, and your mom and dad are not aware of it. Then you can use your cell phone to let them know. Overall, cell phones can be realistic in times of an emergency.…
