There is no argument that technology has progressed tremendously in the past decade. In today’s society, majorities of businesses have a tremendous amount of technological resources available to them and are used to communicate internally and externally. In my personal opinion, I believe that most businesses are using these resources effectively. These resources help to save time and are a pure convenience as means of communication.

Businesses used to rely on the use of note cards and white boards when giving presentations for representatives and co-workers. Today there are so many advancements in software available for the use of presentations.

Businesses have benefited from the breakthrough of the technology age just as much as the common folk around the world, if not more. Business communications have only progressed since the Internet has evolved, and become more useful for a number of reasons. Before the Internet we had telephones and typewriters, which were indeed great tools, but eons behind where we are today. Now, we have e-commerce, m-commerce, and social networking. (Jacowski, para. 3-7, 2006) Sure some of these features are still used today, but there is a much higher chance that a business may send an email opposed to sending a fax. Computers come equipped with many different features. Instead of buying four different machines to do four different things, why not do it all in one place? That is why the computer overruns all and the internet continues to benefit and mold the world into a more interesting place. We have information with the simple click of a mouse. This is not only useful for everyday life, but in essence how businesses communicate.…

Effective organizational communication must provide the ability to reduce the distance between people, increase timeliness of interactions, and provide a medium that efficiently transfers knowledge (Javaligi, Radulovich, Pendleton, & Scherer, 2005). However, communication efforts must align with corporate goals and global efforts to maximize benefits from accepting risk associated with expansion efforts (Ernst & Young, 2006).…

New technology is being introduced daily into the business world. In past employers I have seen several different communication trends used to express issues within the company. Some of my past employers have used personal digital assistants (PDAs), e-mail and text messaging, job flexibility, and team work (Locker & Kienzler, 2008). PDAs were an excellent way to let a person work from home if it is needed or they can be used for someone that is not in the office every day.
