One day I was at home after a long time at school and my mom told me to go read the book, which I was going to have a test about. I told her that I couldn't do it because I was doing something much more important: playing FIFA. She got mad at me and I had to read the book, but two days later, I started researching and I found out that playing videogames is something more importante that most people think it really is. And today I'm going to tell you some benefits and facts about playing videogames regularly.
First of all, I found out that playing videogames is extremely helpful when it comes to avoiding and fighting diseases. For example, a study made in the University of Ottawa tested the Nintendo videogame Wii on people who …show more content…
have Parkinson disease for twelve weeks. The studies showed a great improvement in the equilibrium and medical chart of these people. Another of the many benefits it brings is the improvement of the agility and attention of who is playing, since it requests focus on many things at the same time. People who are used to playing videogames are able to focus on six things at once, while the other who don't play can only focus on four things.
These facts prove that playing videogames can improve your efficiency and handeye coordination, and in some cases even improve your health.
Playing videogames can also be very good to the social life. In today's generations of videogames, people are able to play online while talking to whoever they're playing with. Another important point is that it can bring the family closer with a game that envolves everyone, even when sometimes, it can end up in a fight. It is also very important for the memory of a person. Studies have shown that students remember 90% more of the information in a simulation than in a book or magazine. It can be an important and efficient method of teaching in the future. I think that, if it's well developed, the use of videogames can become a way of teaching, and most importantly, a way for preventing and possibly curing mental diseases by keeping the mind working at full speed.
Lastly, and for me one of the most important facts that I've learnt through all the days spent playing videogames is that it gives you the chance to try again. It shows that every struggle and hard time can be passed by trying again and trying even harder than the last time.
And as trying to figure out how to pass a level or how to win a game, you become more creative by repeating the same action, but without making the same mistakes and looking for a different answer or play or whatever is requested at that time. This stubbornness can help someone chase their dream even harder and not give up until they do it or find what they want. Developing this kind of chaser aspect and not giving up easily is something really important for life.
The well-being of the human mind is based on many things, and one important thing is exercising it. Playing videogames is a really effective and fun way of keeping it functioning; however, it should never be considered more important than studying and learning new things. But everything that becomes an addiction is not good to our body, and in this case, it's not different at all. So, don't let it become an addiction, because if so, it won't have any benefits for your life. The main point of this speech is to show everyone that playing videogames should not be considered only a hobby, but also a way of preventing mental diseases, improving coordination, agility and attention, and also as a push for you to always try again. So, everytime from now on that you're playing videogames, instead of thinking of it as a complete waste of time, you can think about the benefits it can bring to your life.
