The speaker of “In search of the man who broke my neck” is Joshua Prager. His topic is his journey and what he learned in search of finding the man that hit him and broke his neck in a car crash. I chose this speaker and topic because the title of the video caught my attention and it looked interesting. The speech was organized in the sequence that the events he went through took place. He started by standing up and speaking of the crash in Jerusalem when he was 19 and how he wanted to find the man who hit him in the accident, Abed. He then sat down and that changed the subject to his approach at finding Abed and how when he did find him, Abed was unremorseful. Then, Prager sat down and changed the subject again, to how this made him feel that Abed never said all that he wanted to hear, “I’m sorry”. He also discussed what he learned through life with his disability during this time. The purpose of him giving the speech was to show that “What was broken doesn’t matter. What you chose to do after the accident is what matters”. Ethos in this story was when Joshua Prager was convincing about his tough journey and how he learned to get through it. Pathos was when Joshua described his sad time working with his disability and when Abed purposefully avoided Joshua after he hurt him so badly. Logos in the story was in the video when Prager said he didn’t say anything hatful to Abed even though Abed changed his life forever. He didn’t correct Abed about the wrong facts on the accident, because he knew that wouldn’t be the right thing to do. Joshua moved a little bit during the speech and he didn’t have any habits throughout his talk. My favorite part of the talk was when Prager said, “If you’re mindful of what you don’t have, you can be mindful of what you do have.” I liked this because it shows that when something is missing from your life, it actually highlights all of the great things that you do have and it helps you appreciate
