Television Show Scandal
Rationale For the purposes of this project, I have selected the television show called Scandal. Scandal is a highly charged politically devious show surrounding the highest valued employees of the White House. The show’s main character is named Olivia Pope who is quickly branded as a political “Fixer” that (with the help of a team of very loyal Lawyers and friends) that work to help high value clients menuver though their scandelous predicaments. Furthermore, she is quickly noted as the reason that her ex-lover and recently turned President actually has his Presidency. Without going into too much detail, this show is centered around Olivia’s relationship with the Predients, and each of the characters intracate webs of continuing scandals that slowly reveal themselves as the episodes progress. Themes of love, murder, betrayl, govermnet consperacies and more are central to the allure of Scandal.

The White Hat
• The white hat symbolizes a person or entity of goodness and honorability. References to the white hat are made often when in reference to the main charachter Olivia Pope and how she wants to live her life. Even though she wants to wear the white hat, the choices of her past haunt her as she fights to be worthy of it.
Icon #2: The Drill
• The drill symbolizes the character Huck and his dark entaglements with a part of the goverment that is not even known by the highest ranking persons of the White House. Using a drill, Huck was used as a weapon to take out domestic threats in the United States. After being tortured by them for having a family, he becomes an employee and friend to Oliva. The drill was used as an icon to show the darker, murderous parts of the show.
Icon#3: The Justice Scale
• The justice scale was used for the constant battle between the right and the wrong that not only every chracter faces in their desicions, but which direction of the show may or may not progress in.
It is up in the air on whether or not any of the characters will come out on top, with their white hat intact.
Icon #4: The Bomb
• Progressing though the show we find out the Quinn has a very complicated story. We end up fining out that her story envolves a bomb, and a member or two of the team she now works with having helped her escape from impending catastophe without her knowledge. This icon was chosen to demonstrate how intertwied the characters are in their scandalous endevours.
Icon # 5: The White House
• The White House was chosen because it is at the center of most of the shows themes and plot lines. Oliva and the presidents affair, the murderous employees, the governement consperiacies, and so on. It is also a sign of hope, pride and the sevear loyalty the central characters have to their country.
Icon#6: The Sniper
Rifle
• The sniper rifle has a few meanings. Most importantly, it is a symbol of military protection, but also a symbol of criminal assasination. This icon was chosen for its unique interpretations when it comes to political and criminal view points, and how it is unclear which side is the “good” side.
Three icons were chosen for their “goodness” and three icons were chosen for their “badness”. This was part of the design because it speaks to the themes of the show by expressing its grey areas. Nearly every plot line within the show
Scandal is ambiguous in its interpretation of good versus evil. Though mostly every chracter fights to do the right thing, their idea of the right thing is often diffrent from one another.
