First off let me state the simple fact that without the temporal lobes we would not be able to hear any types of sound, or be able to speak and understand languages of any type, including sign language for the fact it is a type of language. with that being said even if we were able to hear and process language without the temporal lobes we wouldn’t be able to remember what the sounds we hear are or what someone is saying to us or what to say back because we would have no way of storing memory. Also without memory we wouldn’t have any type of emotional response either. Now are you starting to understand why the temporal lobes are so important?
Don’t you love hearing all of the different sounds in the world? I know I do, honestly I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t hear anything I would probably go insane. But thanks to the temporal lobe we get to hear sounds and all types of frequencies. There is a specific section in the temporal lobe known as the primary auditory cortex. This auditory cortex is in charge of receiving and processing any sounds transmitted through the auditory responses. It responds to different sound frequencies and also in determining the location of the sound. (Webpage www.buzzle.com)
How would you feel if you had no way in communicating with someone except by looking at them and trying to use gestures to help get them to figure out what you meant. That is where the left temporal lobe comes into
