Tencent earns a huge chunk of its revenues from value added services –internet and mobile and also through online advertising.Through active user accounts and fee based subscriptions,it generates revenues.Monetising social networks involves actively engaging the customer with value added services and Tencent has seens its user base growing with virtual technology and games packages.The huge customer base and social networks helped it secure revenues through value added services.All the products of the company involved social activities and this helped in creating value for the company. The objective of the company was to provide internet users with “one-stop online lifestyle services”.Tencent strived to achieve this goal with its core competencies on the internet platforms to fulfil users’ needs of communication, information, entertainment, shopping and purchasing.Well-known names of such services included QQ for instant messaging; QQ.com -portal; QQ Games –online games; SoSo online search engine; and Tenpay –payment platform. Qzone, PengYou, Weibo and Weixin offering social network services; PaiPai and Mall/Shop/Buy.qq.com as a e-commerce site.
