Thank You, Ma Am, By Langston Hughes

Thank you, Ma’am by Langston Hughes is a rather peculiar story where a boy names Roger plans on robbing Mrs. Jones, but his actions led him to a place he would never have had imagined. Langston Hughes was an American poet, novelist, and play write. His African American themes instantly made a major contributor to the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. He published his first poem in 1921 and later his first book in 1926. Hughes traveled a bunch in his early life, and throughout college. He worked in New York while writing and then joined on as a freighter that ended up taking him to Africa and Spain. Vachel Lindsay was key in Hughes success by reading his work and promote it to a wider audience.
Person versus person is quite undeniable in the story as it places the two characters against one another. As Roger a young boy either fourteen or fifteen is planning on stealing from an older lady who is larger and has a very large sort of purse
Instead of just moving on from the story, put some serious though in it. Reflect the story on how you are living your life. Think of a time you might have been judging someone on physical appearance without knowing truly who they really are. The story made me open my eyes after I gave deeper thought into it, and even writing this simple two pages or so helped even more. Putting more thought on a story definitely enhances the reading experience, mainly for the fact that it makes you think and have opinions on what happened or could’ve happened. Like is Roger would have gotten away, he probably continues to steal his entire life, and poor old Mrs. Jones loses whatever valuables she was keeping in her purse. Remember this, the world we live in is full of people who are constantly judging you, and you can’t control what they think of you. Nobody wants to be thought negatively of, especially when they do not know the real you and what is inside of you, or even what you may have been
