The Ability To Follow-Up Experiment Essay

This study turned out to be very beneficial to understand how people from different sex react under a controlled experiment when it comes to telling a stranger's secret. One of the reasons why I think this was a good study was because it explained how men and women acted differently when put under the same situation. It was also able to change the stereotype of how women are not able to keep secrets and men are. Whereas in this experiment there a larger percentage of men who expose the secret rather than women, the ratio of being men 30.8% to women being 14.5%. This experiment showed that every person is different personally when it comes to keeping a secret, for some, it gets very stressful and they don’t feel relaxed unless they have let
So I was to do a follow-up experiment from this then that would be adding an equal number of participants like the authors said. I’ll try finding people from different cultural background, different religions, and different ages. Having people from different culture, religion, and different age group will help us learn about how culture, religion, and age plays a role in one's ability to keep a secret, act under pressure and their ability on trusting strangers. One of the other things that I would love to add on the follow up would be to give them the option to interact with one another more before they tell their secret so that people will have some background idea about the other, leaving them more comfortable telling them the secret. Also making sure that both genders are able to participate with each other, without limiting the research to being within males and females. Giving the participants the option to pick the gender that they feel comfortable telling the secret to. However not changing the method to calculate the outcome and the
