Within the pages of this mind rattling novel written by Lisa See called " Snow flower and

The Secret Fan" the story elaborates on two lontong woman who are forced to face

drastic challenges and measures of day to day life in arranged relationships. It also focues

intensely on describing the ominous and barbaric renwoned culture trait women

experienced from traditional foot binding. Sadley at one point in time carrying the

element of

bound feet in china was one of the most valued assets over all. Bound feet signified

women who walked gracefully with poise. Women possessing this quality attracted men

in a very robust way. The Chinese culture believe this trait determined whether women

People tell me their secrets. My friends and family; they all have secrets to share. The secrets are often about them doing bad things or people they dislike. Whatever the secret is, it requires privacy. According to the Macquarie English Concise Dictionary 5th Edition, privacy means: “the state of being confined to or intended only for the person or persons immediately concerned; confidentiality” This means the secret must only be known to one or a few people. But what if the secret gets spilled, and is open for everyone to see? This has unfortunately happened a lot to me and during the course of history. For example: I once told my brother a secret to keep away from my sister, but it turned out that he was just about as unreliable as a jelly pickaxe, he told my sister, and this led to my siblings and I getting into trouble with my parents, also; the secret method of how to break the enigma code was spilled during World War II and this lead to many deaths. If secrets are not well guarded, it can lead to a lot of danger and distress. Claire Carmichael saw all of this in the world and has decided to write a novel in the genre of science fiction to respond to the past in terms of understanding the future: Incognito. In the novel, it raises the issues and concerns of society like privacy, power and corruption and teaches us about it using a variety of literature techniques…

It strengthened the Confucian ideal for a woman to be confined and subjugated by men. The control of women’s mobility not only assured her chastity, but also prevented her from running away or seeking help in the neighborhood. As a result, women must be passive and accept every whim and desire of her husband. In most cases, women were only treated as sex objects for men’s satisfaction. Women are being dehumanized. Because of this gender inequality, men are allowed to have as many concubines as they want, while women should always be loyal to their husbands.…

The relationships we build when we share information makes a connection with the speaker and the listener. Theses relationships often can turn personal rather than professional. There is an art to sharing and being aware of what we share and how we say it. In disclosing information I learned that is also has to be done with interest in the others feelings and an interest in what the others will disclose(Stewart,2012)…

In nineteenth-century China, when wives and daughters were foot-bound and lived in almost total seclusion, the women in one remote Hunan County developed their own secret code for communication called nu shu or “women’s writing”. Some girls were paired with laotongs, "old sames," in emotional matches that lasted throughout their lives. They painted letters on fans, embroidered messages on handkerchiefs to communicate their feelings and emotions to each other. “Footbinding” became a social tradition for all women and showed their social status. Lily and Snow Flower were two laotongs who established their friendship at a young age. They get their foot bound on the same day at the same hour for two laotongs must be alike in every way. Once they get their foot bound, they must never leave the “upstairs women’s chambers” where no man can enter. Through the painful ordeal of getting their foot bound, the two laotongs strengthened their friendship by understanding each other’s pain and suffering. Lily and Snow Flower become acquainted with each other’s lifestyle and they slowly learn about the differences within…

Secrets in time, will always surface no matter who holds it, and eventually it will get out leading to an effect that can simply multiply. Some secrets are good to keep but not all. For example a surprise party for another is good, but information that can cause harm to others is not. I believe if the secret involves you and you are at risk of being in danger, then you should know about it. When you keep a secret, you are not only putting stress on yourself, you are also held responsible for the information. Keeping secrets from others that involves and affects them negatively shows dishonesty. There are many effects secrets can cause such as destroying relationships, raise suspicion and resentment and a false sense of reality. When destroying relationships, the people involved may lose…

Inside a marriage a man and a woman may experience personal troubles, but when the divorce rate during the first four years of marriage is 250 out of every 1,000 attempts, this is an indication of a structural issue having to do with the institutions of marriage and the family and other institutions that bear upon them.…

People sometimes feel that the best way to protect someone is to not tell the truth nor show the thing(s) that may or may not hurt them emotionally. People believe that if you tell other people what they want to hear that everything will be ok and they will not overreact or act out of line. At times things are kept from people to protect others or protect the environment in which you are in at the time. In Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, this happens a lot.…

The thing that I found most compelling in the story ‘‘The Bound Man’’ was that the man was not worried about being released from the rope, rather he wanted to be bound and with that disadvantage he learned to adapt with it and live life as if he wasn’t bound at all. The reason why I find his situation and his own reaction to it so compelling is because while I was reading the story, I was putting myself in his situation and I would not of thought to react in such a way as he. In the beginning, where the man had awoken from his sleep to find that he was bound, he found happiness in that situation. Through out the story there were people who were amused by his situation, but also had sympathy in which the bound man was completely against; he took that situation and made it seem like it was not a problem, that perplexed me. - But still I find it all truly compelling.…

The evolution of bipedalism is said to be one of the most crucial stages in evolution itself. The ability to stand changed the body’s locomotion forever. Bipedal locomotion consists of walking, running, and standing on two legs. Being able to carry out these tasks caused a series of complex transitions. The entire human body had to adapt to this huge change. Not only did the legs undergo drastic changes, but the entire body did as well. The evolution of bipedalism helped certain species survive in their environment, changed and altered their bone structures, posing both advantages and disadvantages for human beings.…
